Smarter Balanced Assessment Update (4/17/15) – PLMS Principal Michelle Caponigro will share information and answer questions about the new SBA assessments on Thursday April 23; 6:30 – at the PTSA General Member meeting in the PLMS Library.  Please plan to attend to learn more about the SBA.

Students at PLMS will be taking the SBA assessments beginning April 30.  Students have had the opportunity to practice using the testing tools this week in Science classes.  Students that were absent for the SBA Training Test will have a chance to make-up the Training Test next Tuesday.

The dates  for the Smarter Balanced Assessment:

Grade 6 - May 14, 15, 18, and 19,

Grade 7 - May 7, 8, 11, and 12,  

Grade 8 - April 30, May 1, 4, and 5

*Please arrange appointments around these dates. If a student is absent on a testing day, he/she will make up the assessment during another school day.  

Building student familiarity with the new statewide assessments will help our students demonstrate all that they know during the testing window this spring.  PLMS teachers are taking extra measures to provide students with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the new online test format…but we need your help, too. 

Please try to set aside just one hour to help your child become familiar with the new online Smarter Balanced state test. Practice tests in both Math and English/Language Arts are available online and will allow your child to experience what the Smarter Balanced test is like and be introduced to all the tools needed to take the test online.
