spring membership drive

Did you know that one of our 2018 Washington State PTA top five priorities is to support legislation instituting and funding a Breakfast After the Bell Program in high-needs schools?  Our legislative arm is actively meeting with representatives to raise awareness and push through items on our Legislative Platform.  Recently, House bill 1508 overwhelmingly passed the state House.  This is an example of the important work our PLMS PTSA supports, thanks to you!  Many people ask "Why join?"  We ask you to join to not only support our students at PLMS through Enrichment Grants, student events, and family activities like the Hoe Down & International Night, but to help support students across the state.  Here is a Seattle Times article from 1/11/18:

If you haven't joined yet, please consider it.  We are entering our Spring Membership Drive and it is never too late!  Visit our website at and click on "Join Today!"

 Advocacy Update

Ernesto Chavarin and Lori Riskin represented PLMS at the 2017 Legislative Assembly.  The Washington State PTA legislative platform is a two-year platform to mirror the Washington state legislative cycle. On the even-numbered years, the new platform is voted on by members at the legislative assembly in the fall. The top five issues become our short-term platform and consist of our priority issues when advocating throughout the year.  The top five issues are: 1) Social Emotional Learning 2) Amply Fund Basic Education 3) Closing the Opportunity Gap 4) Standards for Para-Educators 5) Breakfast After the Bell.  Please see for more information.
