PTSA Mission and Goals

(proposed for 2014-2015 year)

To represent and to advocate for all students at PLMS, to our community, our governmental bodies, and other organizations that make decisions affecting children and education.


Goals for 2014-2015


1.  Build a strong and supportive community
  • Organize Hoe Down as a PTSA community event
  • Provide parent volunteer support to PLMS teachers, staff and programs
  • Recognize our incredible staff through Staff Appreciation activities
  • Promote and support the Issaquah Schools Foundation
  • Provide support to the Issaquah School District as needed
2.  Communicate with members
  • Communicate wth members through a survey for ther ideas for the PTSA
  • Maintain PTSA website that provides a central location for PLMS PTSA related information and activities
  • Send monthly updates via email
  • Keep parents informed on legislation and district-wide issues that affect our schools and communities
3.  Engage our children
  • Provide support for PLMS students' educational and social endeavors such as after school Homework Club and Hoe Down
  • Provide PLMS with financial grants that will broaden our children’s learning experience
4.  Provide Parent Education opportunities with particular emphasis on middle school issues
  • Continue to support Parent Education speakers at District level
  • Communicate district-wide “Parent Ed” opportunities to our community
  • Host at least one Parent Ed event at PLMS
5.  Support the mission of the Washington State PTA
  • Achieve 100% membership
  • Meet training requirements for PTSA leadership
  • Adhere to  “Best Practices” as defined by the Washington State PTA
